In 2002 the owner of Ellegaard A/S buys a small company, which has developed a highly mobile water purification unit. Ellegaard, dedicated to manufacture and service of conveyors, conveyor belts and drum motors, does not have any direct connection to this new business area.
The purchase is driven by an interest in “making a difference” and a vision about the future demand for safe drinking water in the world. Hence, the individual and globally oriented company is founded: Pure H2O A/S.
The purification units are manufactured at our corporate offices in Denmark.
By 2005 the new business area is forced to re-think its go-to-market strategy, despite of sales in many parts of the world. The company personnel is reduced and the work force is outsourced to Ellegaard for the upcoming projects.
In 2009 the business picks up again, largely with the development and sale of a new, powerful water purification unit, of which a total of 56 units is purchased by the Swedish Defense (FMV). Driven by this new development, a new strategy is formed and backed by hiring of an internationally experienced sales profile in 2010.
The company now has an international profile oriented mainly towards International Emergency Response actors and multinational and national Armed Forces authorities.
We are also active in developing drinking water systems for rural development, which is part of a desire to market its activities into the Bottom of the Pyramid. Assisting rural and semi-rural societies with scarce resources in getting access to safe drinking water remains to be an important value and motivational drive for the company.
